It’s with great excitement that we announce the release of our inaugural cookbook, Where the River Narrows: Classic French & Nostalgic Québécois Recipes from St. Lawrence Restaurant.

Over the past three years, J-C Poirier and Joie Alvaro Kent have been hard at work to chronicle J-C's culinary journey and the classic French recipes that are dear to his heart. This incredible labour of love for food has finally come to fruition, and we’re thrilled to announce the release of Where the River Narrows.

Where the River Narrows is a loving homage to Chef Jean-Christophe (J-C) Poirier’s home province, Québec—the phrase is a direct translation of the Algonquin word “kebec,” describing the area around Québec City where the St. Lawrence River is hemmed in by towering cliffs. Québec is where J-C’s love for the nostalgic beauty of French cooking began. In his debut cookbook, he shares master recipes from both cultures, Québécois and French, and the everyday intersections between them—whether from the menu of his famed Vancouver restaurant, St. Lawrence, or his kitchen at home.
